Throughout his life as a businessman, Mr. Baughman owned a general life insurance agency in Wagener and then on Hilton Head Island for over 20 years. After being in the fuel oil business for many years in Wagener, Mr. Baughman received his honorary Doctor of Laws degree from Baptist College, Charleston, SC (now Charleston Southern University). After graduation, he was commissioned a lieutenant and served a tour of Army duty at Fort Sill, Oklahoma. He received his Bachelor's degree from The Citadel in 1957 where he had a distinguished cadet career including serving as a Summerall Guard. Baughman was a decorated multi-sport athlete from Wagener High School where he graduated in 1953. He was married for 62 years to his sweetheart and best friend, Louise Cleland Lightsey who predeceased him on December 27, 2020.

In her free time, Catie loves to spend time with her children, paint with acrylic and oil paints, and read books across a wide array of genres.
